🛡️ Financial Crime Surveillance — A Public Sector Cloud Transformation Case Study
I’m proud to share one of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on: a cloud-based data infrastructure built for financial crime surveillance, in collaboration with a central intelligence unit under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

The mission was clear — to strengthen the detection of illicit financial flows, trade misinvoicing, and smuggling patterns by integrating fragmented datasets across departments and turning them into real-time intelligence.

💡 What Made This Challenging:
Data was siloed across multiple government systems

Reporting was delayed and Excel-based

No audit trail or secure access controls

Case-building was slow and manual

⚙️ What was delivered:
A secure AWS-based data lake with automated ingestion

Event-driven ETL pipelines using Lambda + Glue

Real-time dashboards via Athena + Quicksight

Full IAM-based access governance and auditability

This wasn’t just about infrastructure — it was about enabling analysts to act faster, trace flows across systems, and uncover patterns in minutes, not days.

This project strengthened financial surveillance at the national level. It proved that even in the public sector, cloud-native, serverless architectures can bring massive gains in speed, cost, and impact.
